The HiVi M8N-1B is an 8-inch damped aluminium/magnesium cone woofer engineered to deliver deep, controlled bass and articulate midrange performance. This driver is an ideal choice for audiophiles and DIY enthusiasts seeking to construct high-fidelity loudspeakers, whether for two-way bookshelf designs, three-way floorstanding systems, or dedicated subwoofer applications. Its precise transient response ensures that both musical detail and cinematic impact are rendered with clarity and authority.
Technically, the M8N-1B features a total Q factor (Qts) of 0.45, striking an excellent balance between sealed and ported enclosures for accurate bass reproduction. The mechanical Q (Qms) of 5.02 and electrical Q (Qes) of 0.5 contribute to a well-damped, controlled cone movement. With a resonance frequency (Fs) of 29 Hz and a maximum linear excursion (Xmax) of 5.8 mm, it can produce deep low frequencies while maintaining low distortion. The 35 mm voice coil on an SV former ensures reliable power handling up to 160 watts, while the ferrite magnet motor system provides high efficiency with a sensitivity of 88 dB (1m/2.83V). The 8-ohm impedance and 6.5-ohm DC resistance make it compatible with a wide range of amplifiers. This woofer is a robust foundation for any serious speaker project.
