The HiVi M8N-1 is an 8-inch woofer engineered to deliver precise, low-distortion bass and midrange reproduction, making it an exceptional choice for audiophiles and custom speaker builders. Its aluminium/magnesium diaphragm ensures exceptional rigidity and lightness, minimising cone breakup and preserving clarity even at higher output levels. This driver is versatile enough to serve as a dedicated bass unit, a mid-bass driver, or a subwoofer in high-fidelity two-way or multi-way loudspeaker systems, as well as in automotive audio installations where accurate low-frequency response is paramount.
Technically, the M8N-1 features a nominal diameter of 203.2 mm and a mounting depth of 96.5 mm, with a cut-out diameter of 178 mm and a six-bolt fixing pattern on a 201 mm screw circle. Its electrical parameters include a DC resistance of 6.5 ohms, a sensitivity of 86 dB SPL at 1 metre with 2.83 V input, and a total Q factor (Qts) of 0.45, combining a mechanical Q (Qms) of 5.02 and an electromagnetic Q (Qes) of 0.50. The maximum linear excursion (Xmax) is 5.8 mm, allowing controlled, articulate bass. With an overall diameter of 222 mm, this driver is a robust and refined choice for demanding audio projects.
