The Dayton Audio SD270A-88 Subwoofer is a meticulously engineered 10-inch driver designed to deliver deep, controlled bass with exceptional clarity. Whether you are building a dedicated home theatre system, upgrading a car audio setup, or crafting a high-fidelity two-channel music system, this subwoofer provides the low-end foundation that brings your audio to life. Its performance characteristics make it equally suitable for sealed and ported enclosures, offering flexibility for custom designs.
At the heart of this subwoofer lies a treated paper cone, chosen for its ideal balance of stiffness and damping, ensuring natural, uncoloured bass reproduction. The copper voice coil provides reliable thermal handling and low distortion, while the 3.16-ohm DC resistance allows for efficient power transfer. With a total Q factor (Qts) of 0.43, the SD270A-88 offers a well-damped response, blending tightness with extension. The mechanical Q (Qms) of 3.23 and electrical Q (Qes) of 0.5 further contribute to its controlled behaviour. A maximum linear excursion (Xmax) of 6mm and a displacement volume (Vd) of 207.8 ensure ample output capability, while the sensitivity of 87.8 dB SPL at 1m/2.83V means it responds well to moderate amplifier power. The 227mm cut-out diameter and 109mm mounting depth simplify installation, and the five mounting holes provide secure fitting. With a nominal diameter of 254mm, this subwoofer is a robust choice for achieving authoritative, room-filling bass.
