The Dayton Audio RSS460HO-4 18" Reference Subwoofer is a formidable audio component engineered to deliver deep, authoritative low-frequency response for high-output home theatre and music systems. This subwoofer excels in demanding applications, from cinematic explosions and room-shaking bass lines to high-fidelity two-channel setups where precise, articulate low-end reproduction is essential. Its robust construction and high-excursion design make it equally suited for custom enclosure builds in dedicated home cinemas or professional sound reinforcement installations.
At the heart of this subwoofer lies an aluminium cone diaphragm, chosen for its exceptional stiffness-to-weight ratio, ensuring minimal distortion even under extreme dynamic loads. The 12.75mm linear excursion (Xmax) enables powerful, clean bass output, while the 93dB sensitivity (SPL 1m/2.83V) ensures efficient power handling. The 3.2-ohm DC resistance (Re) and copper voice coil wire provide excellent thermal management and low inductance (Le: 2.24mH) for controlled, accurate response. With a total Q (Qts) of 0.32, this subwoofer is optimised for sealed or ported enclosures, offering a balanced blend of low-frequency extension and transient speed. The 457.2mm nominal diameter and 227mm mounting depth require an 8-hole, 424mm cutout for installation.
Combining high-excursion capability with reference-grade engineering, the RSS460HO-4 delivers the visceral, distortion-free bass that discerning listeners demand.
