The Dayton Audio RS125-8 5" Reference Woofer is a precision-engineered bass and mid-bass driver designed to deliver accurate, low-distortion sound in a compact form factor. Ideal for high-fidelity audio systems, this 5-inch woofer excels in sealed and ported enclosures, making it a superb choice for bookshelf speakers, small subwoofer systems, or as a dedicated mid-bass unit in multi-way designs. Its controlled response and linear excursion ensure clean, articulate performance across a wide range of listening environments.
At the heart of the RS125-8 lies an aluminium cone membrane, chosen for its stiffness and low mass, which minimises breakup and delivers detailed, uncoloured reproduction. With a linear excursion (Xmax) of 4mm and a displacement volume (Vd) of 21.1, this woofer produces impactful, well-defined bass despite its modest size. The total Q factor (Qts) of 0.34 indicates excellent transient response and tight bass control, while the sensitivity of 86.8 dB (1m/2.83V) ensures efficient power handling. A copper voice coil wound on a high-temperature former, combined with a low inductance (Le) of 0.57 mH, further reduces distortion and improves high-frequency extension. The robust motor system, with a mechanical Q (Qms) of 1.74 and electromagnetic Q (Qes) of 0.42, guarantees reliable, long-lasting performance. Whether for a discerning DIY project or a premium upgrade, the RS125-8 offers reference-grade sound in a versatile 5-inch package.
