The Dayton Audio ND90-4 is a 3.5-inch full-range driver that delivers remarkably clear and detailed sound from a compact footprint. Its aluminium cone and neodymium motor combine to produce an efficient, articulate response that belies its small size. This driver is ideally suited for use in high-quality small speakers, soundbars, desktop monitors, and portable audio projects where space is at a premium but sound quality cannot be compromised. It also excels in multi-channel arrays or as a dedicated midrange driver in more complex designs.
Technically, the ND90-4 features a 4-ohm impedance and a sensitivity of 85.7 dB (1m/2.83V), ensuring good output from modest amplification. The lightweight aluminium cone is driven by a copper voice coil with an inductance of just 0.62 mH, contributing to low distortion and extended high-frequency response. With a linear excursion (Xmax) of 4 mm and a displacement volume (Vd) of 12.5, it can produce surprising bass depth for its size. The driver’s total Q (Qts) of 0.63 and mechanical Q (Qms) of 5.1 indicate a well-damped, controlled performance suitable for sealed or ported enclosures. The 85 mm cutout diameter and four mounting holes simplify installation, while the overall depth of 60.8 mm allows for slim cabinet designs. For any project demanding full-range clarity in a compact form, the ND90-4 is an outstanding choice.
