The Dayton Audio ND105-8 4" Aluminum Cone Midbass Driver delivers a remarkably clear and detailed midbass response, making it an excellent choice for compact audio systems where space is at a premium. This 8-ohm driver is ideally suited for use in high-fidelity two-way or three-way speaker designs, as well as in automotive audio installations where a clean, controlled low-end is desired without the need for a large enclosure. Its precise performance also lends itself well to home theatre applications and custom loudspeaker projects.
At the heart of the ND105-8 lies a rigid aluminium cone membrane, which ensures low distortion and excellent transient response. With a linear excursion (Xmax) of 4mm and a displacement volume (Vd) of 20.6, this driver can move significant air for its size. The total Q factor (Qts) of 0.66, combined with a mechanical Q (Qms) of 5.57 and an electrical Q (Qes) of 0.74, indicates a well-damped design suitable for sealed or ported enclosures. The copper voice coil wire and an inductance (Le) of 1.25 mH contribute to efficient power handling, while the sensitivity of 82.7 dB (1m/2.83V) ensures compatibility with a wide range of amplifiers. With a nominal diameter of 101.6mm and a mounting depth of just 67mm, this driver is easy to integrate into tight spaces, offering a perfect blend of performance and practicality.
