The LL1570 is a very high-quality, general-purpose audio transformer suited to low-turns-ratio mic input, ground isolation, balanced-to-unbalanced conversion, and 1:1+1 splitting. Careful design keeps capacitive coupling between the transformer's internal sections to a minimum, and the three-section winding used here delivers exceptionally wide bandwidth. It's built from two coils, each with primary and secondary windings separated by electrostatic shields, around a high-permeability mu-metal core. The LL1570XL uses a core roughly 45% larger than the standard LL1570, giving it greater signal-handling headroom.

Lundahl transformers are mainly used in the output/interstage of tube amplifiers, in microphone and line inputs, and for galvanic isolation in studio and live sound systems (DI boxes, ground-loop breakers). The Swedish manufacturer winds its own copper wire and casts its own cores for every model, resulting in very consistent, factory-measured parameters even in series production.
